Boston Herald throws Scott Brown under the bus
Holly Robichaud, a conservative columnist for the Boston Herald and a once-rabid supporter of Scott Brown, has now declared the Massachusetts GOP’s “honeymoon” with Brown to be over after Brown declined to run in the upcoming U.S. Senate election in Massachusetts.
Robichaud compared Brown’s late decision to not run in the special election to “leaving a bride at the altar” and even admitted that John McCain helped orchestrate a scheme to block Susan Rice from being appointed Secretary of State in order to leave John Kerry as Obama’s pick for that post, which forced the special election for Kerry’s Senate seat in the first place! Since Brown is the only Massachusetts Republican who can win a statewide election, the only way McCain’s scheme would work is if Brown decided to run in the special election, which Brown declined to do!
Robichaud even vouched for Charlie Baker, the Republican nominee for Governor of Massachusetts in 2010 who lost to incumbent Democratic Governor Deval Patrick, to run for Governor of Massachusetts in 2014, calling Baker’s “fiscal conservative credentials” superior to those of Brown.
Massachusetts Republicans now have a very short time to recruit a candidate and collect at least 10,000 signatures to get that candidate on the U.S. Senate Republican primary ballot, and they are in full-panic mode to the point that Tagg Romney, who once said that he wanted to “take a swing” at President Obama, has even been mentioned as a potential candidate.
